My internet was down this morning. Originally, I thought this is because of hail storm. The boardband exchange may be destroyed or the power in there was down. Tonight, when I went home, the internet was still down. Then I phoned to technical support. Well, this is a classical problem. The staff asked me to re-plug in the cable again. It works again.
This Weekend,my internet was down for a whole afternoon. I phoned to my friends living in the same area as me. Their internet were down too. Well, I went for the whole afternoon. I spent my afternoon in Gym and went out shopping. I have not been this kind of style for years. Normally, I will listen some Internet radio or write some program. But last weekend, I have been a different life.
I am a IT guy in my fellowship. Three years ago, I started to learn PHP. I developed the first version contact management system. Now, I will use open-source system, may be I will develop some codes. I may add some aJax function.
There are some open source existing system in my fellowship. Mailman is the email list system. It enhance the communications among the members. Now, we have an email address which reach all members. Moreover, I used CopperMine as the photo album. Previously, we had a big photo. If someone take a photo his/her camera, he/she needs to send to everyone. In most of the cases, he/she forgot about it. Now they need to send it to me , I will upload for them. Or I trusted him/her enough and give an account to him/her, he/she can do it by himself/herself.
I have been played around with FireFox 2.0 for weeks.
I am addicted with its spelling checker. It checks my typing live. This is so convenient.
Moreover, the new Google search bar is cool too. It has a keyword suggestion function.
I used to buy a new computer every two years. My home got three to four computers. I am still using these computers. For some of very old computers, I use them as a file server. I have not put them into rubbish bin. Some of my friends put their computers into rubbish bin. Actually, many old computers are still useful. They may be not good to play games. But they are still good to do word process. I have hear there are some version of Linux aims to run in low performance computer. Please, Please, Please don't treat your old computer as a piece of rubbish.
